Internship: Social media intern at Helsingborg International Connections

Could you be our first social media intern?
We have a great opportunity for an intern to gain experience in our well-known local organisation, which supports internationals living in Helsingborg. HIC is all about bringing people together and keeping the local international community informed. We run different kinds of events, and drop-in sessions. We offer a warm welcome to newcomers and are a valuable part of the municipality’s efforts to attract and retain international talent.
Right now, we’re looking for someone to take on our social media and communications platforms. The position will suit an international person living in Helsingborg, or a Swedish person who has lived in other countries and understands expat life.
Tasks:
  • Manage the social media calendar.
  • Create social media posts and stories.
  • Use analytics to monitor engagement.
  • Create a monthly newsletter.
  • Review and develop existing HIC communication platforms.

We think you’re:
  • Smart, curious, empathetic and welcoming.
  • Interested in Swedish and local culture, traditions and news.
  • Keen to share your knowledge of Helsingborg and developments in the city.

You’ll have:
  • Excellent written English.
  • A degree in communications or equivalent expertise.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms.  
  • Personal experience of the HIC network and events (preferred).

We’ll give you:

Internship: communications/digital media or business/events delivery at Lund University

BACKGROUND 

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners; peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.
​
In order to enhance the impact of project implementation, UNOPS is currently developing new innovative solutions to help its partners achieve the Agenda 2030. Therefore, UNOPS has started creating a global system of innovation centers. Currently three innovation centers are already up and running in Sweden, Japan and in Antigua, and more centers are going to be opened. 

This position will be located in the Global Innovation Centre in Sweden. Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Innovation Centre Manager, and in close coordination with the local team and stakeholders, the intern will be an integral part of the team driving concrete responsibility areas. The intern will learn and practise skills related to communications and event management.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Fall internship 1 - communications and digital media 
Communications 
  • Help plan and delivery of a social media strategy for the UNOPS S3i Innovation Centre
  • Support in the creation of various materials, including visuals, presentations and videos
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the knowledge about the UNOPS S3i Innovation Centre in Sweden, and coordinate publicity for events as required
  • Actively participate in content creation and moderation of social media channels owned by UNOPS S3i Innovation Sweden
  • Support external communications by helping with incoming requests from various stakeholders, under the guidance of a supervisor. 

Fall internship 2 - business and events delivery 
Event Management
  • Help plan and delivery of event management strategy for the UNOPS S3i Innovation Centre
  • Participate in event planning and delivery together with the GIC Sweden team as well as partners 
  • Set up and help manage a calendar of events in the GIC Sweden Incubator and relevant events in the Swedish innovation ecosystem.
  • Undertake continuous research on events happening in the region and nation to ensure we are plugged into relevant activity.
  • Work closely with the incubator programme within the UNOPS S3i Innovation Centre by supporting the hosting pitching sessions, talks, and events. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Academic qualifications 
We are now looking for an intern who, within the framework of his/her university studies, has the opportunity to do a full-time internship. The internship takes place in autumn 2021 and is adapted to your internship course requirements.

2. Language Skills
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. 
Swedish is desired but not required.

3. Computer Literacy
Computer/tech skills are desired. 
Video editing skills are desired.
Photo editing tool skills are desired.

4. Internship-related experiences
Communications or events management experience is desired.
Experience from the Swedish innovation ecosystem is a plus.
Social media knowledge is desired.
Messaging and storytelling to different audiences (formal/informal etc.) is desired.

Internship Programme of the Joint Inspection Unit (JIO)

The Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) of the United Nations System (Geneva, Switzerland) is currently looking for interns. The internship is located in the Joint Inspection Unit, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The internship is for a minimum duration of three (3) months and can be extended up to six (6) months depending on the need of the service.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time, and interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of the Evaluation and Inspection Officer in the department or office to which they are assigned. 

Interns undertake duties, supporting the work of a team for a specific report, under the supervision of an Evaluation and Inspection Officer. The intern will be assigned to different tasks depending on the status of implementation of the annual work programme of the Unit


Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
  • Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
  • Document, legal and internet research
  • Assistance during conferences
  • Working on web-presentation
  • Evaluation of projects
  • Compiling statistics
  • Media analysis
